Returning Damaged Electronics


My husband and I spent almost $2000 at a Virginia Beach Store on 7/9/2011 on a 50" Plasma Tv, laptop, mounting for tv, a 32" LCD flat screen and a few other things. In getting our new furniture we realized that the 50" Tv was not able to go where we wanted and we need a smaller one to go on different wall. My husband loaded the Tv in our van and drove to HHGregg to exchange for a 46" only to find out that we couldn't return it because there was packaging missing, two dents and the screen had been shattered to the point that it looked like it had been kicked or a hammer shattered the inside screen. The box had not been opened by us and sat in the same spot for four days. We contacted Corporate and they gave us the run around stating that the return had to be approved by Regional Manager. At the end of the day, we sent pictures to corporate for review and we were told the next day that the pictures did not show any indication where the store had caused the damage. They then stated that they could offer us a discounted price on another TV. Our question is, if you didn't cause the damage then why offer a discount? We are not satisfied at all with the exerience of shopping at HHGregg! We know for a fact that we had not opened this box and had not seen the state of the tv until the store opened the box the day my husband tried to exchange the tv but the store in a way are calling us liars without calling us liars. WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN!!!
